Scotland is world-renowned and famous for its Single Malt Whisky.
The description of Single Malt Whisky is – it’s made exclusively from malted barley and produced at a single distillery.
Two of Scotland’s main Whisky making regions located close to us are Speyside and Highland.
Speyside is located in the northeastern part of the country with the region bordering much of the River Spey.
Highland, geographically, is the largest of all the Whisky making regions in Scotland.
Both regions have combinations of – mixed landscapes, climate and coastal locations and it’s these characteristics that carry through to their whiskies.
Speyside has:
The highest concentration of distilleries than any other area, with over 50 that are active, ranging from small artisanal producers to large, globally recognised names.
Characteristics of their whiskies tend to be elegant and complex, some with an ever-slight character of peat, as well as being gentle and delicate.

Highland is:
The largest region geographically with rugged landscapes, varied climates, and some locations being coastal – these characters are reflected in their whiskies.
Flavour profiles tend to be rounded and robust with some displaying hints of peat.
Coastal distilleries – slightly salty, Northern distilleries – heathery with slight spice, Eastern & Central – fruity characters.
